Monique Maissan, founder and CEO of Waste2Wear, runs a purpose driven company that creates sustainable fabrics that the earth loves and consumers can verify. Through innovative recycling processes, Waste2Wear transforms pre-landfill and ocean bound plastic bottles into recycled yarns and fabric creations.

Under her stewardship as a textile engineer, Waste2Wear innovated their own blockchain technology that is unlocked by scanning a QR code on product. This reveals the environmental savings of each production run and a video showing how plastic is turned into fabrics. In 2018 Monique devised a method to transform polypropylene from discarded domestic appliances and take-out containers into recycled (RPP) bags. In the same year she created a revolutionary RPET RA-3 chemical testing method, that identifies plastic bottle content in yarns and fabrics to tackle the problem of fake-RPET.

Monique collaborates with NGOs and a variety of stakeholders to create awareness and solutions to protect our planet. She is an executive board member of the McKinsey-founded Delterra, an environmental non-profit and has a long standing relationship with The Jane Goodall Institute. She is the recipient of several awards for her work in sustainability.
